The game is played at two\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\">levels, one tactical and the other by negotiating between the 7\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\">players. This combination of tactics and negotiating makes the game\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\">extremely challenging, but the deterministic resolution of moves makes\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\">it extremely suitable to play with an artificial intelligence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\">We organize the Diplomacy Computer Challenge (DCC2015) to be held as part<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\">of the 18th\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\">Computer Olympiad.<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/>During the Diplomacy Computer Challenge artificial intelligent\u00a0non-player characters (BOTS for short) will compete in playing the\u00a0Diplomacy board game.<br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\">We challenge you to submit your non-payer character to participate in\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\">the Diplomacy Computer Challenge.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #222222;\">Submission<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Below are the guidelines for submitting a bot (as of 27-04-2015).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222;\">Participants will have to <a href=\"http:\/\/icga.leidenuniv.nl\" target=\"_blank\">register for the\u00a0ICGA Computer Olympiad<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222;\">Participants should register at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/1eMMw5-320zG8O-bz7IcSPN7oonD04ELFgok3azijv7k\/viewform\" target=\"_blank\">DCC2015 registration page<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li>BOTS can be submitted by e-mail to <a href=\"mailto:benruyl@gmail.com\" target=\"_blank\">Ben Ruijl<\/a><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222;\">BOTS have to comply to the<a title=\"DAIDE framework\" href=\"http:\/\/www.daide.org.uk\/index.php?title=Main_Page\" target=\"_blank\"> DAIDE framework<\/a>\u00a0<strong>or<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dipgame.org\" target=\"_blank\">DipGame framework<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222;\">BOTS submitted before <strong>20\u00a0June 2015<\/strong> will be fully considered<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222;\">Submitted BOTS should be able to often win from a random move bot (see\u00a0<a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/RandomBot.zip\">RandomBot<\/a>\u00a0for DipGame)<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Contributions should include\u00a0the\u00a0complete\u00a0source files and every other files used to compile the bot<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222;\">Copyrights of the source code should be free or comply to MIT or GPL l<\/span>icence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\">The source code will be made public after the Challenge via the\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\">conference website. The <a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/RandomBot.zip\">RandomBot<\/a>\u00a0may be used as a starting point for bots using DipGame. For DAIDE, see the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.daide.org.uk\/index.php?title=Clients\" target=\"_blank\">wiki<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\">Where and when<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\">The event will be held in Leiden, the Netherlands on <strong>1 July<\/strong> during the ICGA Computer Olympiad 2015. The details of the location will be announced later.<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\">At least one team member should be present at the ICGA Computer Olympiad\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\">and be present at the DCC during the\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\">game.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Competition setup<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Notice: the rules can be subject to change.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\">The Challenge is played in 3 rounds for each of the two frameworks.\u00a0 Countries are assigned randomly\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\">for each game.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #222222;\">First round:<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\">Each submitted BOT is put in an arena with a random country against<\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\">\u00a0 6 incarnations of the random bot.\u00a0 This round<\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\">\u00a0 is played 7 times. BOTS that win 4 or more out of 7 games continue<\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\">\u00a0 to the second round.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #222222;\">Second round<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222;\">A total of 7 games are played with 7 bots taken randomly from the<\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\">\u00a0 entire pool of submitted bots.\u00a0 Each winning BOT from these games<\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\">\u00a0 continues to the next round.
