To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the World Computer Chess Championship, we are holding a special event. The Chess History, Experiments, and Search Symposium (CHESS) is inviting many of the pioneers of computer chess to attend this year’s World Computer Chess Championships. Chess programs have gone from 1600 ELO (1974) to 3600 ELO (today), and these pioneers sowed the seeds for this success — a milestone in AI history. At CHESS, we will greet old friends, reminisce about the early days of AI software development, and celebrate the incredible successes that our community has had.
